Renovating a room in your home can be both an exciting and daunting task. Sometimes, project inspiration viewed online looks easier or more manageable than it actually is. Alternatively, it could be the complete opposite—being much simpler than one would assume. What is important to know is what to do and what not to do when gearing up for the remodel of your dreams. All of us here at Christino Kitchens have had plenty of experience and enough ups and downs in the industry to know a few things about the overall scope of each project we take on. In this blog, we share a few things to remember while planning your kitchen or bath remodel.
Do your research
Not only is it important to find trends or ideas that you like, but your project won’t go anywhere without a solid company that will work with you throughout the entire process. Depending on the area, costs will vary per project and business. It’s good to shop around and try to find a business that will treat you and your family like a name and not a number. Last, make sure whoever you choose, that reputable and trained/licensed individuals will be working in your home.
Don’t do it yourself
Unless you’re painting on an old piece of furniture or if you happen to be a handyman/carpenter, we highly suggest not going about your project alone. We have a team of individuals that have been in the business for a long time and can handle any situation that may arise. We stick with a schedule and make sure it gets done in a timely manner, the right way.
Do consider the resale value
If you’re not planning on staying in your home forever, definitely keep in mind what is going to help you sell your home the most. A certain look now may not be in style in five, ten, or fifteen years from now.
Don’t work without any inspiration or design plans
It’s important to find ideas online to find inspiration or ideas that spark your interest. Websites like Pinterest and other blogs are a good place to start. Walking around stores and taking pictures of furniture, certain colors, or fixtures that you like will also help gather ideas. This will help the designer get inside your brain and help to create the space of your dreams.
Do stick with your budget
It’s very possible to achieve your home goals with any budget. Sure, there may be some limitations, but our designers and builders are very knowledgeable in creating spaces with almost any budget. Although money will have to be spent, it’s not worth breaking the bank because of the pressure to have the next best thing.
Don’t get discouraged or overwhelmed when something doesn’t go as planned
Something may not go as planned, but that’s okay! We can figure out ways to modify a plan that will still be meaningful to the project. Again, our trained and licensed individuals have seen it all and know how to fix any problem, no matter how big or small, all while staying on track.
Do trust your design and construction team
We are here for you and want what’s best for your home. Never be afraid to ask questions and know that we will do everything we can to make sure your project runs smoothly. Our licensed/trained individuals are proud to serve you and will use their best judgement when it comes to your home.
Don’t forget about the overall theme of your home
When planning a project, remember to make your ideas flow with the other rooms of your house that aren’t getting renovated. You want your project to stand out but also still feel like it’s a part of your home.
We are so passionate about serving you and your family and can’t wait to help you achieve the remodel of your dreams.
